We had a run out in the truck today (as you can see in the gallery below) and had a little look at the course and let Reece and Dylan find their feet. Had a few problems with the truck. Its was going into limp and the steering was still a bit stiff. So we changed the crank sensor and the fuel filter and she seems ok. We also drilled out the adapter in the power steering pump from 3mm to 3.5mm and steering seems a lot better now.
ok so we crashed through a fence on qualifying and no matter how cool it looked we were lucky not to damage anything apart from a bent rear caliper. We had a full fence panel wrapped around the rear axle.
Race tomorrow, early start!
Saturday was a hard day for us, we were flying and leading the event by 12 minutes then disaster, we snapped a 4 link bolt. This meant we couldn’t get back to the pits and had to wait to be recovered. It didnt take long to fix but we lost our lead and ended up finishing the day in 5th place. We also seen Mikeys truck with a front wheel hanging off and as we are running the same stub axles we brought our truck in to check then and good job we did as the passenger side wheel was loose. We worked on the truck for hours to get it ready to race Sunday.
We had to nurse the truck on Sunday and bring it into the pits every 2 laps to tighten the wheel bearings. We still had limp issues and the truck was cutting out. The rear diff has given up and could go any minute, its clunking away and the stub axles are a joke! This event has demolished our truck! Everyone is having problems so we cracked on and got the job done.
We were made up to finish our second event in 4th place!
Well done to Sam Ahmed our mate who finished his first event in his newly built truck in 3rd place.
Been an truly amazing weekend, our team loved every minute!
