We just finished dirt racing UK where we came 7th.
Go-Pro Footage here Rear Go-Pro and Front Go-Pro
We came 5th in qualifying and got off to a great start in the first heat but then rolled the truck. We self-winched the truck upright but when we got going we came across Mikey Riley who had ripped his front wheel off so we towed him over the finish line. We then carried on our second lap only to realise we had burnt our clutch out and we had a misfire.
Rob Butler towed us back to the pits where we worked on the misfire cos if we could not fix this then there was no point in changing the clutch. We run two standard TD5 pumps in our fuel tank so we attempted to swap the fuel pumps but as we had never done this before, none of the fuel pipes or wiring reached. So we altered the pipe work and the wiring and we got the truck running on the backup pump and it seemed okay.
So we cracked on and we changed the clutch. When we started the truck, we were gutted to find it was still misfiring.
Mikey texted Jose who advised us, it was a crank sensor fault. We changed the crank sensor with a spare one we had on the van but it made no difference and then we changed it again with one Mikey gave us and it worked. So we were back on track but we had only completed one lap and we missed the full second heat. We set off on the third heat and it was going great but then we rolled again!
We self winched within a couple of minutes and we were off again. We managed to get some laps under our belt which was good and the truck seemed fine. We completed the last heat which was a mix of both classes and we did okay, no major dramas and we finished the event.
We felt we could have done better after the effort we put in preparing the truck but you just cant predict what is going to happen during a race.
